For Claire - coincidentally as I was looking at your post with the photograph of goldfinches, a family of them landed on our bird feeder. As always I was too slow grabbing the camera and didn't get a picture of the whole family group (the young birds are very drab anyway) but here's a couple of snaps of them dining out on thistle seed.

what a great picture of its lovely red face. I must get one of these seed feeders. I ran out of peanuts today, rushing around doing baby things, so I have put out my own mixed nuts and raisins, the birds love it but its a bit expensive!
p.s meant to say GREAT EGG!!!
